The markets are all held on Saturday mornings in the car park at the front of Blaby Social centre.

BLABY FARMERS’ MARKET

The farmers’ market meets again this Saturday morning (28 February) from 9.30am until 1pm.

The usual range of stools will be selling a wide range of local produce.

I hope to be there because I always enjoy soaking up the atmosphere, viewing the produce and making a few purchases. If you see me there stop me and speak.

FARMERS’MARKET CELEBRATES 30

It’s always a pleasure visiting our own local Blaby Farmers’ Market; but last week it was especially so as free mulled wine was on offer to celebrate 30.

N0, the market’s not 30 years old, but this was the 30^th Blaby Market. I found that hard to believe because our market has already become part of our local culture.

Last Saturday was no exception and I enjoyed chatting with many friends and neighbours and I bought second hand books (from the indoor market), meat , vegetables and a couple of  “homemade” pies.

BLABY FARMERS MARKET

Blaby Farmers Market gathers again this coming Saturday morning, 22^nd November, at the Blaby Social Centre car park.

Once again there will be stalls selling a wide range of locally produced goods.

25 July, 22 August, 26 September, 24 October, 28 November, 19 December.

Blaby Farmers Market is in the car park at Blaby Social Centre this Saturday 28th June.

This Saturday the market will include a local artists’ exhibition.

The Farmers market now meets every month, on the fourth Saturday.

Blaby Farmers’ Market meets at the Blaby Social Centre Car Park, Leicester Road, Blaby.

At the Farmers’ Market you will find:-

Leicester City Council have agreed to allow twelve farmers’ markets in Blaby in 2008. The city claim they have the right to allow or refuse markets within a narrow radius of Leicester under the terms of an ancient charter. Blaby District Council have to pay the City Council £300 per market day for the “privilege.” It is hoped that the market will normally be held on the fourth Saturday of each month.

 I think that a market per month is excellent news for people living around Blaby and Glen Parva. It’s also good news for the village centre because the farmers’ market brings in more people on “market Saturdays”. Farmers Market Day has become a really good community occasion in Blaby.
